Award-winning Pianist Vladimir Tiagunov on His Experience as a Jury Member at Leading Music Competitions Worldwide

Judging competitions is a prestigious honor in the music world. It means you’ve spent years dedicating yourself to your craft and are accomplished in your field. Award-winning pianist Vladimir Tiagunov has judged many leading music competitions worldwide and is sure to continue doing so in the future.

Tiagunov studied at Chelyabinsk State Academy of Arts and Culture in Russia before moving to the United States. Today, he plays at numerous prestigious venues throughout the world. He is also deeply passionate about teaching students at Long Island Conservatory. On several occasions, he has been invited to be part of the jury to judge leading competitions. “I feel it’s my responsibility to help the next generation learn, master, and appreciate music. Judging international competitions is also an important part of it.” Vladimir said. 

He is regularly invited to be a jury member at many international music competitions. Some of the most prestigious include Manolov International Music Competition, Music Soloist Competition, and the International Piano Competition at Gould Academy. Vladimir explained, “It is a pleasure to hear upcoming pianists as they showcase their talent to the world. It’s one of my greatest pleasures.”

Tiagunov also feels that music competitions are a learning opportunity. “Not everyone can win,” he said. “However, constructive criticism and the will to excel can help you improve as an artist. Vladimir firmly believes that international competitions serve as an excellent platform for talented musicians to push themselves to the next level.

Vladimir Tiagunov has won numerous prestigious awards as a pianist. Most recently, he received a Certificate of Excellence for extraordinary dedication to the field of Music Education and outstanding student achievement at the Forte International Music Competition, held at Carnegie Hall in 2019. Vladimir added, “Furthering the field of music is one the main reasons I teach, and participate as a judge at leading competitions.”He was also a top performer at 13th LISMA International Music Competition, won the First Award at “Music without Borders” at Gould Academy, and won a gold medal at Forte International Music competition in 2016. 

Vladimir Tiagunov remains focused on his career as a leading performer and revered teacher. Vladimir insists that every competition he judges teaches him something new. While he continues to wow audiences across the globe, he will continue shouldering his responsibilities as a teacher and judging international competitions worldwide.
