Longtime friends Scott Bartnick and Jay Feldman opened Otter PR just at the start of the Covid-19 lockdown. After early careers – Scott in engineering and Jay in medicine – they had both segued into the eCommerce domain, and gained experience promoting their own ventures. A couple of friends, having seen that Bartnick and Feldman were adept at creating their own PR, reached out to them for help with their Covid-related pitches. Six months later, they have over seventy clients.
Bartnick focuses primarily on eCommerce clients, Feldman on thought leaders – speakers, health coaches – and small businesses, he says, ”anyone looking to build authority, build credibility.”
Unlike most public relations agencies, theirs is founded , Feldman says, “by young people who know how PR works today.” They’re youthful and results oriented, and do two things that make Otter a real disruptor in the PR field. All clients are month-to-month, and receive a guarantee of pieces published in credible sources. They’ve positioned pieces in Forbes, Washington Post, the NYTimes, Insider, and many other publications.
Bartnick and Feldman understand that some clients are looking to promote one event, or want to see what the results are short term, and Otter doesn’t lock them in with a year, or multi-year, commitment. They know if a customer is happy, they’ll stay, or will be back for their next event.
Bartnick, Feldman, and their growing staff, “take the time,” Feldman says, “to do a deep dive into a client and find their story.” If they find the backstory compelling, they know they can represent clients with the exposure they deserve. Colleen Falco, V.P. of Client relations say, “The clients I’ve had, I’ve loved.
