We recently met up with entertainment veteran, Tiffany Gaines, founder and Chief Operating Officer of SS Global Entertainment. We asked her a few questions pertaining to the rise of her career and here is what she had to say:
First of all, tell us about the start of your professional career?
I started my career in promoting popular night clubs. Gained notoriety by eventually building a rapport with popular DJ’s, MC’s and venue owners. Eventually after working with some of the top promoters in southern California, eventually I started building relationships with agents and managers and popularly known acts. From there, celebrity parties were how we broke artists in the entertainment industry. If we could show our events contained not only known celebrities and artists but top executives of the business, the word would spread and soon enough we were hosting sold out events every weekend. Following that, I took interest in the passion and commitments artists had in performing their own music live despite the competition of mainstream acts. Several years had passed and I watched how local acts were beginning to compete with the sold out shows of major names and started establishing their own following of fans. From there, I was encouraged to negotiate contracts with venue owners to host my own events quarterly for independent artists looking to expose themselves more locally. Subsequently, my first entertainment company, Blasia’s Entertainment was birthed. I used to model of Baby Phat, which initially opened a lot of Industry doors for me. That in itself is an entire different story of my life of which I will be expressing soon in my own autobiography.
What advice would you give to beginners who are nervous to start something new?
You have to start, no matter what the initial intimidation is. Most have dreams that hold true potential but lack the courage and efforts to simply begin the process. Anyone can dream. However, those who actually wake up and act on those dreams are the one’s who stand out from the rest.
What’s your motto or the advice you live by?
Shared Success. I named my company SS Global Entertainment, which stands for Shared Success global because I find much more fulfilment in sharing my success with others rather than stepping on the next man’s back to climb higher. In the entertainment business, you only have one reputation. One thing people don’t do is forget. If you have good business ethics and a solid reputation, the word will spread. This can also work against those who choose to work strictly by ulterior motives regardless of who suffers from the consequences. I live by these words and I can honestly say it is the prime reason for reaching the heights of where I am today.
What are your future goals as an entrepreneur?
Well, I just received one of the biggest recognitions of my career via Yahoo News as the first African American female to solely own a corporation contracting thousands and 47 record labels. The number in thousands is currently over 4,000 so my goals is to reach 10,000. I love helping artists reach their potential. Managers and entrepreneurs who lack the blueprint, that as well interests me in teaching them a better approach to reaching their goals and progressive accolades. So ultimately, just rising higher and sharing more of my success and experience with others to help further their journeys professionally.
Any last words?
Never give up.
